Fairytale sunsets (NorwayxPregnant!Reader)

You smiled softly in contentment, the last few rays of sunshine washing over you in a milky pink hue as it broke through the clouds. The sunset had always been your favourite time of the evening, and today’s was especially stunning, like something straight out of a fairytale: The sky was a gentle mixture of pastel tones; pinks, lilacs and blues –gradually fading into a soothing gradient of peach and orange. A small scattering of stars were dotted across the natural masterpiece, half hidden among the wisps of clouds cradling the sun in a fluffy blanket. A hand lovingly rested upon your bump, a protective gesture to the unborn baby growing within you as your eyes continued to drift over the dreamy skyline. Thoughts of soon being able to share the magnificent view with your child filled you with happiness and left a warm fluttering in your chest. The force of a tiny kick against your palm shifted your attention away from the afternoon sky, a giggle slipping past your lips as you ran your fingers in feather light circles across the surface of your enlarged stomach.

The click of the porch door opening caused you to jump slightly, followed by the sound of recognisable, quick footsteps gradually growing closer to where you were stood. A pair of firm arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you into a warm embrace from behind, large hands clasping around your own smaller ones. Hot breath kissed down your neck as you leaned backwards, closing your eyes as you did so,

“Hello, Lukas dear”

You shifted slightly to glance over your shoulder, eyes meeting with those of your Norwegian husband. The corners of his mouth curved upwards slightly in response, leaning closer to delicately kiss your cheek before burying his face in the crook of your neck.

“You should come back inside; it’s getting cold out here”

His lips vibrated against your skin as he spoke, goose bumps forming in the wake of his actions. One of your hands tangled itself in his silky blonde hair, fingers occasionally brushing against the steel edges of his cross shaped barrette with each delicate movement of your digits, a content purr resonating within his throat as a result of your gentle motions.

“I’ll come inside soon, I just want to enjoy the rest of the sunset”

He nodded in understanding, stroking your stomach lightly in unison with your own movements. A comfortable silence filled the air as the two of you watched the sun continue to sink beneath the horizon. The tranquillity of the moment and the security of Lukas’s presence lulled you into a sense of euphoria, the extent of which meant that you barely noticed that Lukas had begun to slowly usher you inside to the warmth of your shared home, moving to wrap one arm protectively around your shoulders as he did so, the other still resting upon your bump. Surprisingly, it was him who chose to break the silence between you both, his voice holding an air of timidness as he whispered in your ear,

“...Hey, _____”

You raised your head to look upwards him, catching sight of the slight hint of a blush dusting his cheeks as he continued to gaze ahead of you both in his usual whimsical fashion.

“Yes Lukas? What is it honey?”

“I...really can’t wait to finally become a dad”

Another abrupt kick from the baby answered before you could even open your mouth, Lukas flinched slightly in surprise at the feeling. A giggle bubbled from your lips at the sheer adorableness of the scene, those same warm flutters from before returning to dance within your chest before spreading throughout your entire body.

“Looks like baby can’t wait to meet you too~”
